Organizations have been asking the wrong question on cloud security, Osman says. The question is not about how secure the cloud is, but rather how companies will use the security that the cloud offers them.

"If you don't address fundamental security gaps, it doesn't matter if you operate on cloud or on on-premises systems. You will be vulnerable, and you will be exposed to security threats," Osman says.

In an interview with Information Security Media Group, as part of the CyberEdBoard's ongoing Profiles in Leadership series, Osman discusses:

  • How his company has interwoven its IT disaster recovery with its business continuity plans;
  • His company's plans to move to a Zero Trust environment, have better authentication management controls and implement PAM and IAM;
  • The experience of building the tech for the Malaysian Aviation Commission from scratch, and the cybersecurity challenges he faced along the way.

Osman has more than two decades of experience in IT security and strategy and risk management in diverse industries including fund management, oil and gas, aviation and banking. He is responsible for providing technology solutions, security and support for all Ascent Fund Services offices in the Asia-Pacific region.
